This oval ceramic bowl has many uses. It will work well as a planter for succulents or other small plants. Use it also as a flower vase or pot. The oval vase will make a beautiful accent piece in any room of the house. Use it in the office to hold mail and papers. In the bathroom or powder room, it can hold your hair brushes. Use it as a catch all for all your random treasures. Use it also a serving bowl! You can serve peas, corn or beans in this great oval dish.
The oval bowl is 4.25 inches tall and 3.75 inches deep. It is 7 inches long by 3.5 inches wide.
I made this pottery planter on the potter's wheel as a bottomless cylinder and then pushed on two sides to get the oval shape. Once it was dry enough, I attached a slab base as well as feet and handles. After the first firing, I glazed it in a black/brown glaze on the inside that pools to a golden color. The outside is glazed in an emerald green glaze that is darker at the top where the black glaze overlaps. I then fired it a second time in an electric kiln.
Made in Virginia.

If properly cared for stoneware can be enjoyed for a long time. Never place a dish on top of a burner or in a preheated (hot) oven. Instead, place room temperature dishes in a cold oven and gradually bring the heat up to the desired temperature. Dishes should be filled so food contacts all interior surfaces.
Teapots should be warmed with hot water before filling them with boiling water. The same is true for colanders: never pour boiling water directly into them.
Stoneware is microwave and dishwasher safe. However, please use care. Some items, such as berry bowls, might best be hand washed.
Because of the fragile nature of ceramics, I pack the items in several layers of bubble wrap before placing them in a box surrounded by biodegradable peanuts. In some cases, it is best to ship multiple items is separate boxes to prevent breakage.
I do not offer gift wrapping, but I can include a message to the gift recipient. The message will be printed in a script font in an appropriate blank card or the back of a Glynt Pottery postcard. Please let me know (in the message from buyer) if you are interested including a message with your gift.
