This month I am joining several other potters and artists in an exercise called Meet the Maker. The aim is to post something every day that will give readers an idea of who we are, what our artistic process looks like, and what makes us tick. I hope you enjoy my story.
I am Graciela Testa Lynt, the potter behind Glynt Pottery. I could just sum it all up by saying that, on a whim, I signed up for a pottery class in 1992 and the rest is history! Every potter will tell you that there is something very seductive and Zen-like about working with clay and I am not immune to its pull. Working in clay also sends me back to a long-ago time when, as I child, I loved to play in the dirt.
At the time I started taking pottery classes I was working full time as an economics editor. I took classes and workshops, honing my skills and dreaming of the day I could devote myself to clay. That day came when I retired in 2007. I now get to play in the mud to my heart’s content!
My pottery is available online through my website, as well as on Etsy and on Amazon Handmade. I also sell at Manassas Clay in Manassas, Virginia. I have exhibited at the Inter-American Development Bank, the Organization of American States and Union Station in Washington, D.C.
