Design and paint companies came out with their predictions for 2019’s Color of the Year last December. The underlying trend seems to be an emphasis on warm and optimistic colors.
Pantone’s announcement usually gets a lot of press so you’ve probably seen its Living Coral all over your social media feeds. According to Pantone, Airbnb and Apple have started using this color in their branding. Living Coral is a bright pink that Pantone describes as “an animated, life-affirming shade of coral, with golden undertones.” Pantone also calls it a color of carefree happiness that “symbolizes our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits.”
The Behr Paint Company’s 2019 Color of the Year is called Blueprint. It’s a blue hue described as “warmer than denim and softer than navy.” The company says that the color provides authenticity, confidence, timelessness and positivity. Valspar Paints has chosen Airy Blue as its color of the year. They call this color “happy, heavenly and healing.” The company says that this color “filters out the day’s emotional pollution so we can breathe easy at home.”
According to Etsy the trending color for 2019 is Burnt Orange. This is a warm, earthy, terracotta. This color fits perfectly with Etsy’s prediction of a return to Southwestern-inspired décor and a continued emphasis on 1970s and 1990s styles, including terrazzo finishes and rattan home décor.
My personal favorite is Burnt Orange. What’s yours?
